THE ROOT OF THE POWERS OF AIR
RAW POTENTIAL OF AIR
The Ace of Swords is Keter in Yetzirah. It is the power of Pure Spirit in the Formative World – World of Air.
As all Aces, it originates in Keter and holds all the raw potential of the suit – in this case Swords. Communication, logic, intellect are all inherent in the potential of the Swords. Beware, however: swords are double-edged. As intelligence, intellect and logic stem from the mind, they can be dangerous. The mind is reluctant to recognize higher level of consciousness and fights it at every chance. Therefore, the suit of Swords often carries with it conflict, anxiety and sadness.
The Ace of Swords is a very powerful card, having the potential to be incredibly wonderful or extremely evil. Unlike the natural force of the Ace of Wands, which is naturally projected, the power of the Ace of Swords is purposely formulated. The Ace of Swords is described as the “Sword of Good or Evil.” Since it is the sword that upholds the Higher Authority, it can wield Wrath and Punishment.
SYMBOLISM
In this card, the Ace of Swords emerges from the clouds on the bottom to pierce a Crown of Keter at the top.
Whereas the sky is cloudy underneath, by the time it reaches the crown, it is bright with the light of Keter. On the blade of the sword etched the words “THAT WHICH IS HATEFUL TO YOU DO NOT DO TO YOUR FELLOW” attributed to Rabbi Hillel. Heed the warning, and the sword can be used as a weapon of goodness.
