LORD OF GREAT STRENGTH
MOON IN SAGITTARIUS
The Nine of Wands is Yetzirah in Atzilut. It is the power of Air in Fire. The Sephira Yesod, Foundation, is Ruled by the Moon. So the Moon is quite deeply planted and self-confident in this card. The lunar power acquires great strength in Sagittarius – a subtle and illusive sign. Yet, precisely because of that illusiveness, in the Nine of Wands successes are accompanied by strife and apprehension.
The Nine of Wands, thus, is a card of great strength – not of the body, but, rather, of the will. It is this Determination that will finally lead from the Sephirah Yesod (Foundatio) to Malkut (Kingdom)
SYMBOLISM
In the Nine of Wands shows us an ancient charioteer. Both he and his horse are exhausted. The charioteer is leaning over the edge of his chariot with fatigue. The horses, likewise, are on their last leg. Yet, the charioteer’s wand keeps pointing forward, as do the other eight wands in the card. It is this perseverance and determination, that will see this card through.
